One Foot in Faerieland

from May All Your Weeds Be Wildflowers by Lewis Mullen

/

about

Sometimes the hardest part of the day is stepping across a threshold without reciting a mantra. Or taking a train when your peace of mind hasn't got a ticket. The veil between this world and another, weirder one, can seem threadbare often, and I'm thankful for the friends and support I've had over the years

lyrics

One foot in Faerie land, one on a train
If I step off of which, you won't see me again
For I will be shackled all in daisy chains
One foot in Faerie land one on a train

One foot on concrete and one on quicksand
Over the darkest depths of faerie land
Where I will be pixie-led down by the hand
One foot on concrete and one on quicksand

I hear Queen Mab singing Scotland the brave
But I don't feel so brave
As I spiral and spin
I hear old Goodfellow scraping a waltz
My sense he assaults
But the tune draws me in

One foot in darkness and one foot in the light
One pill at breakfast and one pill at night
Sometimes the moon shines a little too bright
One foot in darkness and one foot in the light

Lewis Mullen Glasgow, UK

I write the kind of music I'd like to listen to, and I hope you enjoy listening to it to. It's a window into a slightly different world that's a more honest mirror of our own
