Is That You?

from Is That You? by Lewis Mullen

about

In Scotland, when we want to ask if someone has finished (what they’re doing, eating, preparing etc) we say “Is that you?” This phrase can of course have multiple meanings, as in this depiction of a blistering argument

lyrics

Two projectors, face to face
Place transposed on place
A long weekend away
The beach on Saturday

But it’s no picnic, no siree
Sand kicked up for you and me
Each wearing all the foes
Out of focus, muzzy glow

Need we go on?

Is that you? Is that you?
Are you finished? Are we through?
Back foot wants the other shoe
Is that me? Is that you?

Two speakers, face to face
All treble, little bass
Amped up far too much
Bad vibes entwine and touch

The floor begins to shake
How much can this house take?
Wait ‘til the roof falls in
To take it on the chin

Need we go on?

Is that you? Is that you?
Are you finished? Are we through?
Back foot wants the other shoe
Is that me? Is that you?

I won’t back down, I say
No no, I won’t back down
We’ve picked the wrongest day
To say all we shouldn’t say
But can we just agree, I pray
To never do this again?
Need we go on?

Is that you? Is that you?
Are you finished? Are we through?
Back foot wants the other shoe
Is that me? Is that you?
Is that you?
Is that you?
