One evening alone at my gig, I wondered where everyone was. It later turned out they were at a leaving party. This party took on epic proportions in my mind, and the scenario in this song is both a speculative fiction of this event, and a letter to a wonderful songwriter and human being whom I wish I could have gotten to know. The very much more imaginative spoken section is based on an idea suggested to me by another songwriter and friend, Ian Doran

Beside the shutters of an all-night café

It was a bit of a hypocritical thing for me to get the train
Anyway it's all my fault for not getting back to you and your family
Well, now I hear that everyone is doing well and that is the best of luck
