Down in the Dell

from Is That You? by Lewis Mullen

/

about

I co-write this song with my Dad ages ago and had completely forgotten about it until my Dad unearthed the lyric sheet a few months ago. I’ve no idea what was going through our heads when we wrote it, but it sure does fit uncannily well with the motifs of this album

lyrics

At the edge of the sea, is where we’ll meet
The rainbows have gone, they’ve fallen asleep
When the mermaid sings, the beach bell rings
We cast off our cotton skins

Oh my if we could fly
We’d flap those wings
and soar real high
Ho Hey come let’s stray
down in the Dell
where the fairies play

Drifting on dreams, tomorrow can wait
No need to be scared, we’ll decide our fate
Late at night in the shimmering light
The shadows came out to dance

Oh my if we could fly
We’d flap those wings
and soar real high
Ho Hey come let’s stray
down in the Dell
where the fairies play

Nothing matters when there's love in your smile
I’m glad that you’re here
you’d been gone for awhile
All night long we sang our song
The whispering wind joined in

Oh my if we could fly
We’d flap those wings
and soar real high
Ho Hey come let’s stray
down in the Dell
where the fairies play
